The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will face off against the Hampshire Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Pleasant will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Mt. Pleasant was able to grind out a solid win over Moore County, taking the game 7-2.
Carson Howell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mt. Pleasant is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise. Howell was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Holt, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mt. Pleasant's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Preston Haywood, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Hampshire made easy work of Moore County on Friday and carried off a 10-3 victory. Considering the Hawks have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Dakota Disbro was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Hampshire's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Pleasant has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hampshire struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Mt. Pleasant's way against Hampshire in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Mt. Pleasant made off with a 14-4 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
