Henry Clay (Lexington, Ky.) grabbed the lead when they threw a touchdown with 11:00 left in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Lafayette (Lexington, Ky.) 35-23 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured four lead swaps.
After nabbing the lead on a field goal by
William Wester, the Generals went into halftime with a 9-7 lead. The Blue Devils took the lead to win the game on a passing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring six points in the third, Henry Clay still trailed by three points going into the fourth quarter. But 22 points in the fourth helped HC pull out the victory.
The Blue Devils got revenge for last year's 14-0 loss to Lafayette with the victory.
Henry Clay (5-0) goes up against Madison Central in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Lafayette (1-5) locks horns with Bryan Station also in a non-conference game.
