The Boardman Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. They took a serious blow against Louisville, falling 80-51. While losing is never fun, Boardman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 470th, while Louisville is ranked seventh).
Despite the loss, Boardman still got an impressive performance from Kaden Mayhew, who scored 15 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Mayhew scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Nico Holzschuh, who scored nine points.
Boardman bumped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Louisville, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boardman will take on Austintown-Fitch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Louisville, they will play host again and welcome Lake, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
