Toronto is on a six-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Wellsville a four-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Last Tuesday, Toronto ended up a good deal behind Buckeye Local and lost 56-37. Toronto has not had much luck with Buckeye Local recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Ashton Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 25 rebounds. She scored a full 43.2% of Toronto's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tatum Derrington was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Even though Wellsville has not done well against East Palestine recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Wellsville narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past East Palestine 36-34. The victory was just what Wellsville needed coming off of a 48-15 loss in their prior contest.
Toronto's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Wellsville, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
