The De Soto Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Brookwood Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. De Soto has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
De Soto couldn't beat Ithaca/Weston on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Pirates took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ithaca/Weston.
Sylvia Krueger made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Kylee Venner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Brookwood got themselves on the board against New Lisbon on Thursday, but New Lisbon never followed suit. They blew past the Rockets 10-0. Considering the Falcons have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Mallory Wallace made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Mariah Semann was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Stella Mack, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Brookwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Brookwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for De Soto, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. De Soto has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brookwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
De Soto might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Brookwood when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
