Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kendra Ibeh and Madison Lawrence Lead Highland Prep to Victory

Highland Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the San Tan Foothills Sabercats 38-23.

Leading Highland Prep to victory were Madison Lawrence and Kendra Ibeh. Lawrence dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten steals, while Ibeh posted eight points along with 13 boards and five blocks. Lawrence is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Deba Uyi-Ajayi, who earned six points and three steals.

Highland Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points per game. As for San Tan Foothills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Highland Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 37-28 victory against Dishchii'bikoh on the 4th. As for San Tan Foothills, they will challenge Payson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Payson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
