After a string of nine wins, the Westwood Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were dealt a 98-70 defeat at the hands of Mexia. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Westwood has suffered against Mexia since November 25, 2014.
Westwood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kavian Bryant, who scored 26 points. Bryant is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Chris Carter was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and two steals.
Westwood's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6. As for Mexia, they pushed their record up to 18-11 with that win, which was their 18th straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will take on Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Buffalo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1208th, while Westwood is ranked 292nd). As for Mexia, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. Elkhart is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
