Suburban One - National recap October 8, 2013
Neshaminy extended the longest winning streak in Suburban One - National this week by beating Council Rock North, 42-20. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Pennsbury was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Abington. The Falcons came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.
Neshaminy's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Wombough threw for 154 and 2 touchdowns and Hamiid Pack had 129 yards receiving. On the ground D'andre Pollard contributed 195 yards. Denzel Hughes helped Neshaminy's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 24 yards.
Dan Johnson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Mark Schmidt's team bested the Indians. The 6-foot-0 senior forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Pollard provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Redskins beat Council Rock North. Pollard's favorite target this week was Pack, who caught 7 passes for 129 yards.
Pollard was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 195 yards as Neshaminy beat Adam Collachi's team. Teammate Blake Sullivan added to the ground attack by rushing for 10 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Pack. The Neshaminy star has 18 catches for 325 yards.
Pollard of the the Redskins is just 13 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 107 carries Pollard has put up 987 yards this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Pennsbury takes on William Tennent. Galen Snyder's team is in second place, while the Panthers are in fifth place.
William Tennent scaled the state rankings by moving to 211 from 248 this week, the biggest jump in Suburban One - National. Bob Rosenberger's team was able to move up by defeating Bensalem 22-21.
