It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Patriots at home to the tune of 56-14. Considering Hewitt-Trussville has won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Hewitt-Trussville had a senior duo take command as Peyton Floyd threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes and Kennedy Mitchell rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Mitchell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. James Kelly was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Bob Jones lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyren Washington. Despite the final result, he rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Washington has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
The victory makes it two in a row for Hewitt-Trussville and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for Bob Jones, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
