MIAMI, Fla. - the Tornadoes scored 28 points in the second quarter to secure a big 49-7 victory over Monsignor Pace (Miami, Fla.) on Saturday.
Washington scored on a touchdown run by
Mark Walton, a Walton touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Krondis Larry and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Walton in the second quarter, WHS was up 35-7 at the half.
The Tornadoes grew their lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. Washington scored two times in the third, including once on a
Malik Atkins touchdown pass to
Lamar Parker.
With the win WHS extended its winning streak to five games. Washington defeated Jackson 35-6 last week.
Walton was the top performer for the Tornadoes. The sophomore running back ran for three touchdowns. A member of the Class of 2016 Top 100 Watch List, Walton has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
Monsignor Pace's only touchdown came on a 63-yard pass in the second quarter.
Washington also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 49-0.
The loss comes after Monsignor Pace defeated Inlet Grove 69-0 last week. The loss ended Monsignor Pace's three-game winning streak.
Monsignor Pace (3-1) will play a non-conference game against IMG Academy next week, while Washington (5-0) will take on Bishop Gorman also in a non-conference game.
