Lee Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to square off against the Regents Lions at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Lee Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Indianola Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Colts blew the Colonels out of the water with a 42-0 final score. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Colts this season.

Desi Monix had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 235 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. Monix is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 115 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kacyy Curtis, who rushed for 51 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lee Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Regents, as they earned their first away win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 35-19 victory over Rossville Christian Academy on Friday.
Lee Academy better keep an eye on Zane Hill. He was instrumental in Regents' win, throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 96 yards and one TD. A healthy portion of Hill's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to Wade Hill, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Regents didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hill and Will Hopson. Hopson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The win made it two in a row for Lee Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Regents, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Lee Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 251.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Regents, though, as they've been averaging only 32.8 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
