Cheverus extended the longest winning streak in A Southern Maine this week by beating Portland, 35-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
Thornton Academy took down Scarborough 49-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Red Storm's Dillon Russo and Greg Viola have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Russo has thrown for 1295 yards this season, while Viola, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 25 catches for 526 yards. Deering's Ken Sweet leads the league in rushing yards with 1314.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Trojans and Cheverus. Thornton Academy comes into the matchup ranked second in the state, while the Stags ranks first.
The Trojans led A Southern Maine in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Scarborough.
