MaxPreps host Myckena Guerrero breaks down the final Top 25 of the season.Small Schools Player of the Year: Emma Funk, Our Lady Academy (Bay St. Louis, Miss.), 5-10 Sr.Funk is a three-time MaxPreps All-American and each year she just gets better. And each year, Our Lady Academy wins a state title. Funk is 4-for-4 in state title games.
As a senior, Funk had 630 kills (6.1 per set average), 113 blocks, 311 digs, 324 service receives and 65 aces and lead Our Lady Academy to its sixth-straight title. She was the nation's leading hitting leader (.681 percentage) and had a kill ratio of 72.9 to go with her 98.4 serving percentage.
In four high school seasons, she totaled 2,334 kills and hit .622 (her kill percentage was 68.7), served 140 aces with a 97.4 percentage and 501 points, blocked 228 shots, returned 1,464 serves and had 311 digs.
Funk, who played in 130 victories over four seasons at Our Lady Academy, will attend Trinity University.

Small Schools Team of the Year: Teurlings Catholic (Lafayette, La.), 42-0, state 2A championThe Rebels closed out their season by winning the state D2 title, their fifth-straight title as they ran their two-year win streak to 57 in a row. One of those wins is over Mt. Carmel (New Orleans), the state large school champion.

Coached by Terry Hebert, the Rebels played only one five-set match in 2017 and finished with a 106-6 set record.

Small Schools Coach of the Year: Steve Skanga, Carrboro (N.C.), 31-0, North Carolina 2A state championOne of the best serving teams in the country, Carborro averaged an ace more than 21 percent of the time — for an average of better than five per set. They had 495 aces in 96 sets.
A dozen of the Jaguars played in half of the team's sets and 11 played in 50 sets or more. Seven recorded 50 or more kills, led by future North Carolina player Destiny Cox.
The Jaguars' last loss ended their 2015 season when they fell to South Granville in the 2-A East Region championship — one match short of the state finals. They have won 61 in a row since losing.

First TeamMB — Breana Edwards, Rainier (Ore.), 6-1 Sr.Edwards swung at 1,158 balls and tallied 652 kills for a national leading 8.4 per set average (for players who played more than 55 sets). She added 57 aces, 105 blocks and 258 digs in leading Rainier to an 18-3 season and fourth-place 3A state finish. For the second straight season, Edwards has been selected The Longview Daily News's All-Area Volleyball Player of the Year. Edwards, who will attend Illinois, was a finalist for national Small Schools Player of the Year.
MN — Hannah Tostado, St. Paul (Santa Fe Springs, Calif.), 6-1 Sr.The Swordsman lost the regional finals to eventual D3 state champion Point Loma, but Tostado had team highs in kills 462 for a 3.7 per set average) and blocked 199 shots (1.6 per set mark). She also served 43 aces, averaged 2.0 digs and 2.6 serve receptions. She has signed with Concordia-Irvine.
OH — Paige Jones, New Bremen (Ohio), 6-0 Sr.A perennial first-team All-Ohio selection, Jones was named the district and region Player of the Year again. Jones, who averaged 7.3 kills, 3.0 digs and 3.5 serve receptions per set, led New Bremen to the state 4A title and a 28-1 season. She also served 110 aces in 90 sets, dished 72 assists and blocked 42 shots. Jones, who has signed with Michigan, was a finalist for national small school player of the year.
OH — Destiny Cox, Carrboro (N.C.), 6-3 Sr.Cox lead Carrboro to an unbeaten season when she averaged 4.7 kills per set. She helped the Jaguars capture back-to-back state titles in 2016 and 2017, earning NCHSAA 2A State Most Valuable Player honors twice in a row. The 2016 Mid-State Conference Player of the Year totaled 1,306 kills, 101 blocks, 469 digs and 154 service aces during her high school career. Cox has signed with North Carolina.
OH — Alli Stumler, Christian Academy (New Albany, Ind.), 6-0 Sr. The Kentucky signee capped off a terrific career with per set averages of 6.5 (kills), 3.4 (digs) and 3.6 serve receptions. She also blocked 61 shots and served 61 aces. In leading Christian Academy to a four-year record of 127-24, she finished her career with 1,799 kills, 1,201 digs, 240 aces and 198 total blocks. She was chosen Indiana 2A Volleyball Mental Attitude Award Winner for 2017.
OH — Allison Whitten, St. Joseph's Catholic (Greenville, S.C.), 5-9 Sr.Headed to Morehead State, Whitten led her team to four state titles. Her four-year totals are impressive and she set career highs in kills (668 and 5.1 per set), digs (405, 3.1 average) and serve receptions (435, 3.3 average) as a senior. Whitten also served for 309 points in 131 sets as St. Joe's won 46 matches. She is a three-time state (1A, 2A) Player of the Year.
OH — Lily Felts, Berean Christian (Knoxville, Tenn.), 5-11 Sr.Felts broke the state kill's record for a match with 51 during the regional playoffs, while averaging 7.7 kills per set to go along with 97 service aces. She was named to the All-State Team three years in a row and in 2017 she was named the Division 1A Tennessee State Volleyball Most Valuable Player after leading Berean to a state 1A championship. She has signed with Tennessee.
OH — Jaela Zimmerman, Malcolm (Neb.), 6-2 Sr.Heading to Creighton, Zimmerman was named top player on the Lincoln Journal's Super State team for the second time. She recorded 568 kills (6.8 per set average) and hit .484. She also had 3.2 digs and 5.3 serve reception per set averages.
OH — Megan Miller, Alexandria-Monroe (Alexandria, Ind.), 5-7 Sr.When you see her stats — 6.4 kills and 40 blocks — you would be surprised Miller is only 5-7. A perennial MaxPreps All-American, Miller will play for Nebraska. In four high school seasons, she totaled 2,600 kills (5.9 per set average).
OH — Bailey Keith, Live Oak Classical (Waco, Texas), 6-2 Sr.Keith led the nation in kills with 892 in 122 sets (7.3 per set average) and also hit .473. She added 148 aces for an ace-per-serve average of 31.6. She also blocked 61 shots, averaged 3.0 digs and 3.9 serve receptions on the season in leading the Falcons to the Texas Parochial 2A championship. The Texas All-Stater will attend the Air Force Academy.
S — Haley Vaughn, Crawford (Texas), 5-6 Sr. Named the Texas Small School Volleyball Player of the Year, Vaughn led Crawford to the state 2A title and did so with big numbers: 1,616 assists (11.4 per set average), 299 digs (2.1 average), 122 aces (and 388 service points) and 167 kills (1.2 average). Crawford won 142 matches with Vaughn playing setter. She has signed with Angelo State.
S — Ariana Hebert, Teurlings Catholic (Lafayette, La.), 5-8 Jr. Hebert led the Rebels to a 42-0 perfect season and fifth straight state title. She was the Most Valuable Player in the state title game. Despite an ankle injury limiting her to 35 matches, she recorded 78 kills, 211 digs, 55 aces and dished out 911 assists.
S — Carley Nicholson, St. Pius X (Festus, Mo.), 5-5, Sr.Nicholson averaged 11.2 assists in leading St. Pius X to a repeat for the 2A state title and a 29-8 season. She posted 53 aces and 241 digs. She averaged 13 assists in the state playoffs and 14 per set in the final two matches. She has committed to Illinois State.
S — McKinley Fox, Santa Catalina (Monterey, Calif.), 6-1 Sr.Fox led the Cougars to a 27-1 season, the lone loss coming to state D3 finalist Lincoln. Fox totaled 896 assists (10.9 per set average), 2.3 digs and a kill and an ace per set as well. She was named co-Most Valuable Player of the Mission Trail League as a junior and senior.
A-A — Madison Ladner, Hancock (Kiln, Miss.), 5-11 Sr.Ladner did it all again for the Hawks — 381 kills (4.2 per set average, 121 aces and 219 points, 449 assists (5.0 average) and 93 blocks. A 2016 MaxPreps All-American, Ladner is a three-time All-South Mississippi pick.
A-A — Jonni Parker, Miami East (Casstown, Ohio), 5-11 Sr.Parker led the 2017 Viking squad with 449 kills and 315 assists, but perhaps her most impressive statistic is 153 aces, a mark that ranks her fifth in state history for aces in a single season. Parker, who was named All-Ohio, has signed with Penn State.
L — Sydney Petersen, Dike-New Hartford (Dike, Iowa), 5-6 Sr. Peterson, who has committed to Texas, was named Player of the Year on Iowa's All-Elite eight-member team and led the Wolverines to a 47-3 record in winning the state 2A title. She averaged 4.3 digs per set.
L — Taylor Roberts, Sneads (Fla.), 5-6 Sr.A Florida State signee, Roberts has played on three state-title teams, the most recent this season when she had career highs in serve receptions for a 5.1 per set average and digs with 613 for a 7.2 per set average. She also served for an ace 21 percent of the time (96 total) and 323 points.

Second Team
MH — Melina Woods, Ada (Ohio), 5-11 Sr.Among the nation's top hitters, it took only 80 sets for Woods to get 665 kills (a per set mark of 8.3). She also averaged 4.0 digs and 4.7 serve receptions per set, as well as serving 38 aces and blocking 67 shots.
MB — Taylor Roberts, Coosa (Rome, Ga.), 6-1 Sr.Yes, a second Taylor Roberts. This Roberts led Coosa to the state 2A title when she led the Eagles in kills (4.6 per set average), aces (137 and 298 service points), and blocks (174 for a 1.4 per set average). Roberts also averaged 2.9 serve receptions and 2.5 digs. She has signed with Emmanuel College.
MH — Kailey Jo Ince, Hesston (Kan.), 6-1 Sr.The state 3A Player of the Year, Ince had 551 kills (5.6 per set average), .289 digs, 41 aces and a 97 percent serving. Hesston was a 3A state qualifier and finished third at the state tournament with a final record of 40-5. She has signed with Northern Colorado.
MB — Naya Gros, McGehee (New Orleans), 6-2 Sr.The Michigan State signee was a beast at the net as Gros led McGehee to D5 state runner-up honors. She recorded 604 kills (5.5 per set), 315 digs, 80 solo blocks, 72 block assists and 36 aces.
OH — Sadie Limback, Santa Fe (Alma, Mo.), 5-11 Sr.Limback has earned All-State, All-Region, All-District and All-Conference recognition over her career and helped her team (33-3) with an Elite 8 finish and a sectional title. As a senior, she has averaged 6.1 kills, 2.5 digs, 1.3 blocks and 1.5 aces per set while hitting .455. She has signed with Nebraska-Omaha.
OH — Jenna Dal Santo, Andrean (Merrillville, Ind.), 5-9 Sr.Dal Santo teamed with her All-American sister, Christina, to lead Andrean to its first state title. Dal Santo totaled 569 kills (5.0 per set), 74 aces, 41 blocks, and 217 digs as the 59ers won 30 matches.
OH — Chloe Emory, California City (Calif.), 6-0 Sr.Emory, a three-time High Desert League MVP, led the Ravens in kills (573 for a 5.3 per set average), aces (75), and blocks (55) and also added 3.7 digs and 3.9 serve receptions per set. The Ravens won 30 matches and reached the state regional semi finals.
OH — Mary Shroll, Tempe Prep (Ariz.), 5-8 Jr.The 2A athlete led the state in kills (663) and kill percentage (.510). Her 7.8 kills per set led the state by almost two kills per set and her 63.3 kill percent was among the best in the nation. Shroll, who also averaged 4.7 digs and 6.1 serve receptions per set, has committed to Loyola Marymount.
S — Kiana Mayer, Bronson (Mich.), 6-0 Sr.In leading Bronson to 53 wins and the state class C title, Mayer averaged 10.1 assists, 1.6 digs and 1.2 kills per set. She also blocked 109 shots and served 69 aces. Mayer's assist total of 1,729 is third most in state history. Mayer was a 2017 Miss Volleyball Award Finalist, the Big 8 All-Conference MVP and a first team All-State selection.
S — Katie Frazier, Wirt County (Elizabeth, W. Va.), Sr.Frazier led Wirt to its 11th overall state crown to tie Parkersburg High for the most in state history. Along with serving up 117 aces and putting down 78 kills, Frazier finished with 1,272 assists and was named Captain of the All-State A team.
S — Chelsey Lockey, Eaton (Colo.), 5-7 Sr.Committed to Florida Gulf Coast, Lockey led Eaton to its third-straight 3A title and was named state 3A player of the year. She averaged 928 assists (9.5 per set average), but also killed 112 shots, blocked 78 shots and served for team high aces (46) and points (257).
S — Kenzie Jordan, Water Valley (Texas), 5-9 Jr.A three-time All-State performer, Jordan was the district Most Valuable Player and helped Water Valley reach three-straight regional tournaments. Jordan averaged 14.7 kills, 29.7 digs, 21.2 assists and 4.6 blocks per match as a junior.
L — Katelyn Engelhardt, Unionville-Sebewaing (Sebewaing, Mich.), 5-5 Sr.Engelhardt served for 124 aces and 444 points, but the big number that grabs attention is her national leading dig total of 1,342 for a whopping 9.6 per set average. She also returned 950 serves for a 6.8 per set average with only 33 errors in 140 sets. As a result, the Patriots won 39 matches.
L — Leigh Maher, Metairie Park Country Day (Metairie, La.), 5-3 Sr.The three-time All-State selection led the defense with 783 digs (an average of 5.3 per set) and 73 aces and earned most valuable player honors in the D5 state title match.
L — Christina Dal Santo, Andrean (Merrillville, Ind.), 5-8 Sr.The other half of the All-American sibling duo that led Andrean to a state title, Christina served for 118 aces, recorded 673 digs for a 6.0 per set average and returned 622 serves for a 5.5 average.
A-A — Mica Allison, St. Thomas More (Champaign, Ill.), 6-2 Sr. After returning from the U18 World Championships, the All-Area Player of the Year posted 3.6 kills per game and 4.38 assists per set to lead the Sabers to a Class 2A state title. Named the Western Illinois Player of the Year, Allison has signed with Auburn.
A-A — Michelle Shaffer, La Reina (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), 5-9 Sr.Signed to play at Santa Clara, Shaffer was everywhere on the court for the 34-8 Regents as she led in kills (4.2), service aces (108) and blocks (40) and was second in assists (4.4).
A-A — Maggie Roe, Boulder City (Nev.), 6-1 Sr. Roe, a Western New Mexico commit, led the team in kills (494), digs (276) serving aces (139) and blocked shots (77). She also finished second on the team in assists with 273. Roe was named the state 3A Player of the Year after leading Boulder City to the 3A state title.
A-A — Chloe Rear, Strafford (Mo.), 5-11 Sr.Rear, named the O-Zone's Ozark Player of the Year, was the only player in Missouri with more than 300 kills (377) and 500 assists (513) this season. She helped Strafford compile a 131-33-4 record with two Final Four runs in her four years. She has signed with Missouri State.
