The Clay County Panthers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 42-34 win over Roane County on Saturday. The win was just what Clay County needed coming off of a 69-34 defeat in their prior game.
Roane County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shaun Caldwell, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Will Odle was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Clay County's victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Roane County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Calhoun is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57 points per game this season. As for Roane County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sissonville at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
