After a string of three wins, the To'hajiilee Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 72-36 defeat at the hands of Pine Hill. To'hajiilee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pine Hill apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, To'hajiilee saw an underclassman step up: Khyran Guerro scored 11 points. Maurice Tsosie was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
It was another big night for Brett Baker, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds for Pine Hill. Baker hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Channing James, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
To'hajiilee's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Pine Hill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
To'hajiilee will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Northwest at 2:30 p.m. The timing is sure in To'hajiilee's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Northwest has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Pine Hill, they will square off against Ramah at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Hill is coming into the contest with five straight wins on the road, so Ramah is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
