Central State Eight recap Oct. 30, 2012
Bryce Schnitker and Dalton Keene provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Centralia. The longest such play in Central State Eight this season, the connection resulted in 96 yards.
Jacksonville moved up to 74 from 113 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Crimsons climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Orphans 46-13.
Jacksonville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Schnitker threw for 314 and four touchdowns and Keene had 137 yards receiving. On the ground Andy Mills chipped in 190 yards. Aaron Vasquez helped Jacksonville's passing attack out by catching two balls for 100 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Austin Green of Rochester is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2160. He has also thrown 16 touchdowns. On the ground, Springfield's Brinton Wilkey has rushed for 985 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Reggie Bratton. The Jacksonville star has 47 catches for 990 yards.
The Rockets' Garret Dooley is a mere 68 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 127 carries Dooley has accumulated 932 yard this year.
Mark Grounds' team's Bratton is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 10 receiving yards against Sacred Heart-Griffin to hit that benchmark.
A big matchup in Central State Eight this week will be when the Cyclones take on the Crimsons. As it stands, Sacred Heart-Griffin is in first, while Jacksonville is in fourth.
Rochester extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mahomet-Seymour, 43-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the Derek Leonard's team.
