The Timberline Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Blackfoot Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Timberline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Timberline earned a 47-39 win over Borah. The win made it back-to-back wins for Timberline.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timberline to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emmi Swillie, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Grace Mertes was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Blackfoot was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Tuesday as they fell 40-36 to Snake River. While losing is never fun, Blackfoot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Snake River is ranked ninth).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Addison Tanner, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaci Capson, who scored 5 points.
Their wins bumped Timberline to 2-2 and Borah to 2-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Timberline have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Blackfoot, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 per game. Given Timberline's sizeable advantage in that area, Blackfoot will need to find a way to close that gap. Timberline beat Blackfoot 59-52 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Blackfoot's Esperanza Vergara, who scored 23 points along with 3 steals. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Timberline to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
