Desert Oasis has gone a perfect 4-0 against Foothill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Diamondbacks will host the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Desert Oasis' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Mojave 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Diamondbacks, who have now won three games by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Brianna Bartok made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vida Torres, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Veyda Simon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Desert Oasis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). Everything went their way against Las Vegas on Friday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Like Desert Oasis, Foothill also got a great game from a two-way player: Leah Henderson. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Henderson a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Foothill let Ashlyn Morales and Jazzy Hall run wild. Morales went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Hall scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Hall posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Gilbertson, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Desert Oasis has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 3-8-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Oasis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Desert Oasis' way against Foothill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Desert Oasis made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Diamondbacks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
