The Elgin Wildcats posted their closest win yet this season on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bastrop 35-32. Elgin didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elgin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylan Roberson, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds and five assists. Roberson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sharmonique Williams, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Bastrop, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elgin will challenge Pflugerville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bastrop, they will head out on the road to challenge Georgetown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bastrop in Texas (Georgetown is ranked 115th, while Bastrop is ranked 994th).
