Hope Academy has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Vine Christian Academy Kings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hope Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully the Kings like a good challenge.
Hope Academy pushed their score all the way to 71 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Lake. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hope Academy in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Hope Academy saw an underclassman step up: Dwayne Foreman III scored 30 points along with six assists and six steals. Foreman III is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Xavier Shine was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Vine Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against DME Academy Gold by a score of 68-57. The win was just what Vine Christian Academy needed coming off of a 53-28 loss in their prior matchup.
Hope Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-10. As for Vine Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
Hope Academy took a serious blow against the Kings in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 100-72. Can Hope Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
