Millbrook is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to take on the Rolesville Rams at 4:30 p.m. Millbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Millbrook came up short against Heritage and fell 7-4. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.
Millbrook got a good showing from Rivers Mackinnon, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Mackinnon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brady Graffam and Sully Sebastian did some serious damage despite the final result: Graffam went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double, while Sebastian got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. That double was Graffam's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Rolesville's offense. They came up short against Corinth Holders on Friday, falling 8-0. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Rolesville also got a good showing from Deacon Hensley, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
Having lost for the first time this season, Millbrook fell to 3-1. As for Rolesville, their record is now 1-3.
Rolesville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Millbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Rolesville, though, as they've only averaged .330. Will they be able to contain Millbrook's hitters?
Everything went Millbrook's way against Rolesville in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Millbrook made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
