The Cosby Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Godwin Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Cosby had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt James River Midlothian on Thursday. The Titans never let the Rapids get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The Titans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 30, 2025 (when they won 17-3).
Abigail Conwell looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Camrynrae Shaver was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Madison Perno also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Cosby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Godwin entered their tilt with J.R. Tucker on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 17-1 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by nine runs or more this season.
Delilah Smith tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Godwin got a massive performance out of Avery Fankhauser, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Mackenzie White was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Godwin's record now sits at 6-3. As for Cosby, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cosby hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Godwin struggles in that department as they've averaged .422. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cosby couldn't quite finish off Godwin when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
