Basketball Game Preview: Northside Rams vs. Brookwood Panthers

Northside and Brookwood are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Rams just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Northside is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Tuscaloosa Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rams blew the Knights out of the water with a 54-15 final score. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Northside found their leader in sophomore Kamryn Knowles, who posted 16 points and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Knowles. Carlee Bates was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Northside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookwood). Everything went their way against Holt on Tuesday as they made off with a 49-28 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Northside's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Brookwood, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Northside against Brookwood in their previous matchup back in November, as the team secured a 63-15 win. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
