Two dominant guards in Christian Maxon and Landen Joseph are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Central Cobras on the road again on Saturday and play against the Northeast Hurricanes at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Central will be strutting in after a win while Northeast will be coming in after a loss.
In what's become a running theme this season, Central gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 88-55 victory over Centennial on the road. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Gayle led the charge by shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Gayle hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxon, who scored 26 points.
Meanwhile, Northeast came up short against Pembroke Pines Charter on Wednesday and fell 60-48. While losing is never fun, Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Pembroke Pines Charter is ranked 14th).
Central's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
