Firelands is 8-1 against Oberlin since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Phoenix at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Firelands' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Oberlin has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Firelands' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Clearview. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Clippers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Aaron Bower was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Bower was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Daniel Kothe was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kase Rogers, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Firelands always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearview only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Oberlin came up short against Wellington on Monday, falling 9-3.
Oberlin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Walter, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Liam Steggall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
The win got Firelands back to even at 6-6. As for Oberlin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Firelands took their victory against Oberlin when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 21-6 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Phoenix turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
