4A Region I District 6 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Chisholm Trail was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in 4A Region I District 6.
Birdville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Saginaw, 35-14. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Hawks.
Zach Files and Kyius Mcneal gave Boswell a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Files threw for 121 yards and four touchdowns, while Mcneal ran for 161 yards. Marco Ramierez also contributed to the rushing game with 73 yards on the ground.
Justin Martin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Birdville bested the Rough Riders. He completed 17 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 72 yards. Martin's favorite target this week was Samuel Nothey, who caught seven passes for 94 yards.
On the ground, Saginaw's Russell Murphy has rushed for 710 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Scott Moody. The Boswell star has 29 catches for 589 yards.
Going into this week's game against the Rangers, Jim Skinner's team's Martin needs 92 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Martin has thrown for 1908 yards with 23 touchdowns and three interceptions.
A big matchup in 4A Region I District 6 this week will be when Eastern Hills takes on the Pioneers. As it stands, the Highlanders are in fourth, while Boswell is in third.
