The New London Whalers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down East Lyme 77-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
New London got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Devan Williams out in front who scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Da'Shaun Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
New London pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.7 points per game. As for East Lyme, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New London will take on Killingly at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for East Lyme, they will be playing at home against Norwich Free Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Norwich Free Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
