The East Tigers will be playing at home against the Licking Valley Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
East stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Linden-McKinley at home to the tune of 40-8. That's two games straight that East has won by exactly 32 points.
Taizaun Burns continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 150 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, while also throwing for 150 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes. Burns hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Darion Matlock was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Another reason for the win was East's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Joshua Flewellen and Anthony Shields who racked up six sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Licking Valley gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They enjoyed a cozy 23-6 win over Licking Heights. The win was just what Licking Valley needed coming off of a 45-20 loss in their prior contest.
East's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Linden-McKinley, Centennial, and Beechcroft. As for Licking Valley, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
