The East Wake Academy Eagles will head out to take on the Knightdale Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Wake Academy has three straight victories, Knightdale has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, East Wake Academy made easy work of Wake Prep Academy and carried off a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jordan Fuentes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, East Wake Academy let Dylan Palmer and James Duffield run wild. Palmer got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Duffield went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Duffield has become a key player for East Wake Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
East Wake Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Knightdale's offense. They came up short against Heritage on Thursday, falling 14-0.
East Wake Academy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Knightdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
East Wake Academy skirted past Knightdale 6-5 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will East Wake Academy repeat their success, or does Knightdale has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
