Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Sevier). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the North Summit Braves a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Bron Butler made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Mason Pierce was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Zander Christiansen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
North Sevier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.
