Anthony Sirocchi was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Westosha Central is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Joe Suokko was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Badger was able to grind out a solid win over Woodstock North on Monday, taking the game 9-5. That's two games straight that the Badgers have won by exactly four runs.
Jack Andersen looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ryan McCarthy was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley McCarthy, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Badger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Badger's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Westosha Central, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Westosha Central skirted past Badger 4-3 in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Badgers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
