Softball Recap: Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Butler, Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They skirted past the Lyndhurst Golden Bears 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since April 5, 2024.

Troi Jackson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi-Marie Feliciano, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Marley Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6. As for Lyndhurst, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology and Lyndhurst could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Lions will challenge Pompton Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (297 vs. 135). Meanwhile, Lyndhurst (ranked 280th) will meet Rutherford (ranked 95th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
