Fivay has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Cypress Creek Coyotes at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Fivay has not done well against the Eagles recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Fivay came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 37-28. The win was just what Fivay needed coming off of a 60-39 loss in their prior game.
Malia Shuler had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Jaslene Medina was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cypress Creek had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They blew past Anclote 65-33 at home. Cypress Creek has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Cypress Creek found their leader in underclassman Deslynn Nickell, who scored 32 points along with three steals. Nickell has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carinne Washington, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists.
Fivay's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Cypress Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Fivay came up short against the Coyotes when the teams last played on Monday, falling 52-43. Can Fivay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
