The Basic Wolves will head out to face off against the Green Valley Gators at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Basic needed a bit of extra time to put away Doral Academy Red Rock. They put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 13-6 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Melanie Hughes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hughes was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Basic got a massive performance out of Mercedes Escarcega, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Escarcega a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Christensen, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Green Valley was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Faith Lutheran as they made off with a 15-5 victory.
Green Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Basic, their record now sits at 13-10.
