Van Nuys hasn't had much luck against North Hollywood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wolves will be playing at home against the Huskies at 2:00 p.m. Van Nuys is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Van Nuys got the win against Monroe by a conclusive 23-1. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won five in a row.
ARIEL PUENTE was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. PUENTE was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Nadia Ubaldo and Isabella Espinoza did most of the damage at the plate: Ubaldo got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases, while Espinoza went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases Ubaldo has posted since back in March. Michelle Cadena Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Van Nuys was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, North Hollywood came up short against Sylmar on Wednesday and fell 10-7.
North Hollywood's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Van Nuys, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
