Poland had trouble last Saturday, and unfortunately for them, their opponent this week is a big step up in difficulty. They will challenge Lisbon/St. Dominic on the road at 7:00 PM on Saturday. Poland have seen their point totals decreasing over the past four games, a vulnerability Lisbon/St. Dominic are surely hoping to exploit.
Things haven't been easy for Poland, and their contest last Saturday only extended their streak of losses to three. They suffered a grim 23-51 defeat to Oak Hill. The state rankings had actually given Poland a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Meanwhile, Lisbon/St. Dominic took an ego-bruising loss against Wells two weeks ago, but they kept their chin up and bounced back last Saturday. Lisbon/St. Dominic narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Winthrop/Monmouth Academy 14-12.
Lisbon/St. Dominic's victory lifted them to 5-1 while Poland's defeat dropped them down to 2-4. We'll see if Lisbon/St. Dominic's success rolls on or if Poland are able to steal their positive momentum.
