Last Saturday, Dakota Valley faced Hamlin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dakota Valley lost to Hamlin on the road by a decisive 82-64 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Dakota Valley's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jaxson Wingert, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. Wingert is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Collette, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Sioux Falls Christian put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 66-59 victory over Tea. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Dakota Valley's loss dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Sioux Falls Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
Dakota Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sioux Falls Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dakota Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
