Caleb Hom made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.
Hom wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Levi Rickley, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Zephyrhills Christian Academy made easy work of First Baptist Christian Academy on Friday and carried off a 19-3 victory. Considering the Warriors have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Foundation Christian Academy, Zephyrhills Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Giancarlo Garcia. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Gabriel Novo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Zephyrhills Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tatum Dulaski, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Foundation Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-1-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. Zephyrhills Christian Academy now has a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Foundation Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Zephyrhills Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Foundation Christian Academy took their victory against Zephyrhills Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 19-4. Will Foundation Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Zephyrhills Christian Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
