The Turlock Bulldogs will take on the Stagg Delta Kings at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row dating back to last season, Turlock turned things around against Escalon on Friday. They blew past the Cougars 10-3. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Maycie Higgins looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Turlock got a big performance out of Cadee Campbell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Campbell also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooke De La Motte, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Stagg made easy work of Modesto on Friday and carried off a 16-8 win.
Aerie Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jorge Hernandez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Sonnie Flores was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Stagg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Modesto only posted a batting average of .316.
Turlock's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Stagg, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
