The Moon Area Tigers will square off against the Beaver Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Hopewell hit Moon Area with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Vikings, falling 10-2.
Katie DeMarco was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
DeMarco wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Ray, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Beaver got the win against Western Beaver last Wednesday by a conclusive 13-6. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Jaedyn Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sami Springman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bridget Mayo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Beaver kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Beaver has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Moon Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
