After losing to the Westover Patriots the last time they met, the Bainbridge Bearcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Bainbridge came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 62-52 on Friday. Bainbridge pushed the score to 55-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.
Aj Grant was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Zyrell Williams, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Westover lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryson Carter. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with four steals. Traevion Wheeler was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Bainbridge and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for Westover, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bainbridge's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Packers at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Colquitt County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Bearcats are ranked 121st). As for Westover, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardaway is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season.
