The Rock Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Altamonte Christian by a score of 71-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (65), The Rock still had to take the loss.
Altamonte Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Billings, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Rivera, who scored 12 points.
The Rock's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Altamonte Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
The Rock won't have much time to rest: their next game is against DME Academy Gold at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. DME Academy Gold is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Altamonte Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against City of Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
