The Independence Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Summit Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Independence put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Spring Hill a 19-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kerrigan Riebe was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Logan Riebe was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-2. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reagan Maxon, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Independence hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Hill struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Summit made easy work of Centennial on Thursday and carried off a 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Addison Johnson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tarek Scherr, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniya Hunter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Summit is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 13-14 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Independence hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Summit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Independence skirted past Summit 2-1 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
