The Pinecrest Patriots and the Clayton Comets squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Pinecrest Patriots had to settle for second. Pinecrest took a 17-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clayton. Pinecrest's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Mason Konen threw for 32 yards on six of 14 attempts. Elijah Melton was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards. On the ground, Cody Hansen rushed for 52 yards on only seven carries.
Pinecrest's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Clayton, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Pinecrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Clayton will head out on the road to face off against Cardinal Gibbons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cardinal Gibbons' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven games.
