The New Glarus Glarner Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Dodgeville Dodgers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
New Glarus couldn't beat Lancaster on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the sixth inning. The Glarner Knights fell just short of the Flying Arrows by a score of 10-9.
Brock Roth and Nolan Julseth were huge no matter where they played even without the win. Throwing, Roth pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Julseth struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Roth has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Roth went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Julseth went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ethan Colstad was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Matthew Roth also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Dodgeville entered their match against Portage on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dodgers fell 5-0 to the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Dodgers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Dodgeville also got a good showing from Boone Rickard, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Rickard has allowed since back in April.
At the plate, Dodgeville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Honerbaum, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Dodgeville suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 15-4. As for New Glarus, their record is now 9-6.
