Softball Recap: St. John's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If St. John was riding high fresh off their 17-0 takedown of Jackson-Reed last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. John's took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Ireton Cardinals on Friday. The Cadets' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

St. John's saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devyn Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Johnson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: St. John's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

St. John's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Bishop Ireton, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

St. John's will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on April 11. As for Bishop Ireton, they will host Bishop McNamara at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
