The Rocky Mountain Lobos will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Brighton Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rocky Mountain has three straight victories, Brighton has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Fairview scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Rocky Mountain still came out on top. Rocky Mountain snuck past Fairview with a 60-56 victory.
Avantae Hood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with nine assists and four steals. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Sandstedt, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Brighton pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 83-66 fall against Mountain Range. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (56), Brighton still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Brighton had strong showings from Austin Sickler, who scored 24 points along with five assists and five rebounds, and Vance Martinez, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Corey Morgan, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Rocky Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Brighton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
Rocky Mountain beat Brighton 65-53 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Brighton's Cooper George, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Rocky Mountain to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
