The Rainier Mountaineers will be playing at home against the Wahkiakum Mules at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rainier comes in on four and Wahkiakum on three.
Last Friday, Rainier was fully in charge, breezing past Toutle Lake 36-7 on the road. The result was nothing new for Rainier, who have now won four games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Wahkiakum over North Beach in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Wahkiakum blew North Beach out of the water with a 58-18 final score. With Wahkiakum ahead 36-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Zakkary Carlson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 192 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Carlson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Another player making a difference was Kyler Sause, who picked up 76 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Rainier to 5-2 and Wahkiakum to 3-4.
Rainier didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Wahkiakum in their previous meeting back in September, but they still walked away with a 34-29 win. Does Rainier have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wahkiakum turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
