Even though the Oakmont Vikings scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, the Ponderosa Bruins still came out on top. Ponderosa enjoyed a cozy 76-57 win over the Vikings. Given Ponderosa's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Vikings are ranked 742nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ponderosa was led to victory by Marco Moorman and Keenan Patterson. Moorman scored 17 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, while Patterson almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Travis Bays, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
The win got Ponderosa back to even at 12-12. As for Oakmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponderosa will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Oakmont, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Fighting Zebras at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Lincoln is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
