Amsterdam has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Queensbury Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Last Thursday, Amsterdam was beaten by Broadalbin-Perth 70-34. Amsterdam has struggled against Broadalbin-Perth recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Queensbury entered their tilt with Glens Falls with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Queensbury took down Glens Falls 60-46 on Thursday. Queensbury's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Queensbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shea Canavan led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Barton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Amsterdam's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Queensbury, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Things could have been worse for Amsterdam, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-37 loss to Queensbury in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Amsterdam avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
